heart of my heart
We broke everything that was right. We both enjoyed a good fight. And we sewed all the holes we had to breathe to make the other one leave. And I loved the way you looked at me, and I miss the way you made me feel, when we were alone, when we were alone. So I'll shiver like I used to, and I'll leave him just for you. And I'll shiver like I used to, just for you.
personality
Ægidius is a young boy who is, right now, in the midst of discovering who he wants to be, where he is standing right now and how he should close the gap between those two. The 'change' and the hospitalization that followed, made a big impact on Ægidius' life. A lot of things in his life changed after that, including his personality. He was more of a happy-go-lucky type of kid, one that would believe everything you told him. Now, he seems more like a grown-up; quite serious and sarcastic. He also made a promise to himself that he would never let anybody tell him what to do. This often leads to pretty bad situations as he can be quite rebellious about it at times. He doesn't take orders, especially not from persons who haven't earned his trust.
He is the master of his own body and mind and is deemed as 'quite alternative' to other people. He listens to edgy music, wears loose fitting clothes and has pierced his ears multiple times. Besides all the negatives, there is a really caring and nice boy/man inside of him which will totally be there for you if you need him, and if you deserve it of course. He is quite laid back in daily life but has a hot temper on him if provoked. This guy isn't afraid of a lot of things but hospitals scare the fuck out of him because of previous experiences... He will not set foot inside the infirmary unless half out of his wits.
history
Ægidius was born into a family of three, his mother, father and older sister. He was a beautiful young babe that wasn't planned, yet was welcomed and loved by his family all the same. The small family lived in a run-down hut near a mountain and mining facility on Erd. They had everything they needed-, water, food, warmth from a small radiator and most importantly: each other. Ægidius' mom was a housewife while his father was a mine worker in the nearby mining facility. Each day Ægidius would wave his father goodbye and wish him well when he went off down into the mines. He didn't know back then that each day that his father went down there he was risking his life for his family. At the age of five they managed to save enough money to send Ægidius' sister to school, so after that there were only three. Ægidius wasn't much of a sister person anyway, he didn't feel bad about it, besides he got her room which was bigger than his old one.
One day, when Ægidius had just turned ten there was an accident in the mining facility. He and his mother visited the mining shaft that day but they were pushed away by Erdian police officers. It wasn't safe, they should all go home and wait for more news. That evening, they prayed and prayed some more but news of father didn't come. Despite his mother's warnings Ægidius went to the mining facility that night, to try and rescue is father. He knew he wasn't dead, he couldn't be! If no one was going to help him, then it was up to him.
Daringly he stepped down into the cold mining shaft, taking the elevator 8 levels down, where his father was working. Luckily he was paying attention the evening before at supper when his father had complained about the bad safety measures of the halls at level eight, where he worked. Ægidius walked into the dark, his hands touching the walls to make sure he wouldn't stray away from it. In the deafening silence he called out his father's name every few steps. It took him a while before he started realizing that he was losing track of where he was going and that the lamp he had taken, was running low on energy. He was just thinking about how stupid this plan of his was when he heard a soft whimper nearby. He turned the light onto the wall there and saw a man, not his father, laying on the ground underneath some rubble.
Ægidius ran over to the man and hurriedly gave him some water asking him if he knew where his father was. The man could only shake his head and tell Ægidius that he should leave, as soon as he could. This section was going to collapse soon. With that new information Ægidius after hesitating a long while, skidded away from the man and ran back the way he came tears gleaming in his eyes. He couldn't save his father, he couldn't even save the man who was lying there. He was useless. When he turned a corner he got to an unfamiliar dent in the otherwise straight hallways. Curiosity took over as he stopped to look at a gleaming blue crystal. This must be what they were after, Ægidius thought. It was a pale blue, deeper than he had ever encountered before. It was beautiful and radiating a soft warmth. Without much thought Ægidius ran his fingers over the crystal which made him experience a soft tingling in his fingers, then unbearable pain like if his back was being wretched open, after which he collapsed into darkness.
Ægidius only woke a week after everything had taken place. The first thing he noticed was that his hair was a shade of green which it wasn't before. His father didn't come back from the mine, as did the other mine worker he had encountered when down there. Nobody could recognize the crystal even if Ægidius described it to them in great detail. Strange stuff was happening to him as he felt that he was out of touch with the aether at times, as if his magic sometimes eluded him.
After a few weeks of staying home and building up strength, more reports of children like him began appearing in the newspaper. There was also news of a possible cure, a treatment... His mother didn't think about it for a long while and signed him up for it, after all she wanted the best for her child. A little less than a week after they came for him; two guys dressed in all-white carrying black leather suitcases that matched their shoes. Ægidius resisted for a moment but let them take him once his mother had pleaded him. She already went through enough... he couldn't blame her for not wanting to lose him too.
Ægidius was taken to a hospital, or so the two guys told him, and no visitors were allowed at all times. The first few weeks in that brand new hospital were scary, boring and slow. He was taken in for a lot of tests, they took his blood on multiple occasions and asked him to do silly things. They also started giving him some sort of pills which he did not recognize. Ægidius resisted at first but after the doctors threatened him with no food or water, he took them reluctantly. He felt like a zombie, every day doing the same stuff at the same time. Eating, testing, sleeping, more testing, eating was his daily routine. The only good part was: the other children at the facility. Those children are what has kept him alive for those two years there. Those two years that crept by ever so slowly. He started getting slightly delusional and had mood problems after half a year there. Reality was slowly sinking in, that he was never going to leave the place, that he would never see his mother again.
However, that time did come. After one and a half year things started to change around the hospital. There were less doctors every day and their daily testing became more and more outrageous as if they were out of time. They would go to extreme measures to get the children to work with them, and trust him, a beating was the least of his worries. Just when Ægidius and some others were planning a rebellion the notice came that the place was bankrupt; totally and utterly bankrupt. They were allowed to leave. After two whole years spending their days in uncertainty they were just allowed to walk out of the door without any problem. His days there didn't actually bring him much, he only learned a bit about what had happened to him and that he would probably die in somewhat years. He didn't care, he wanted to be free, he wanted to hug his mother and visit the grave of his father. He even missed his sister.
After he went back to his family who welcomed him with scared yet open arms he spent some good years with them, helping his family with the house and working sidejobs to pay the rent. Eventually his mother came to him and told him to go to school, to see the world before... the end. He declined her offer at first, he wanted to spend all of his days here, he was content, yet she kept on insisting. As he saw the tears in her eyes he decided it was best for him to leave. He didn't notice it before but it was slowly killing her. The fact she knew he would die sooner or later was killing her from the inside, no.. it was better that he would leave. She sent him to the best school she could possibly think of: the prestigious StarShine academy where he has just arrived a week ago.
