Why did their parents name them this?:  Because he almost never cried as a baby. And they wanted an original 'old' japanese name for their boy instead of a 'new' western name.
Why did you, their creator name them this?: Because it seemed fitting, and because I like 'old' japanese style names. His faceclaim just made me want to give him a Japanese name instead of an English one.

Mental state:  Quite ok. He struggles with some issues from time to time, but in the end he has a strong positive mindset.
Mental disorder/ailment(s)(If any):  He sometimes gets real lonely, but usually solves it by just acting happy and going along with everyone. He's actually quite noisy and lively, even when he doesn't always feel like it. It's hard to discern when he's really feeling good, or when he's not. He's trained in hiding his (real) emotions from others.
Personality snapshot: He's this kinda laid back guy with remarkable ups and downs. His usual self is happy, lively and quite noisy. He's a bit of a flirt and likes to touch people's buttons without actually pressing them. He's not easily angered or flustered and is always energetic. Even though Ryohei looks happy, this is not always the case. He's often troubled by memories of the past and loneliness. This loneliness is not because people dislike him, but because he unconsciously pushes people away when things get to personal. He pulls you in and then slowly pushes you out again, letting you only see the surface of himself.
He takes his work very seriously, and likes comunicating with students and,sometimes, hanging out with them. Although he's a couple of years older than most of them he likes helping them with stuff that reminds him of his own school years.

What caused this kind of personality to form?: He used to be a mercenary on Shadra, basically a thug up for hire to clean up after rich people's shit. He often needed to get close to his victims before ending them, so that's where he got his acting skills from. He played the lover, the drunk, the innocent one, the poor kid and the brute up to the point that he didn't even know who he was anymore. That's when he quit his 'job', left Shadra for Nova and finally applicated for the job opening on Star Academy, his old school. He didn't really have any documents to aid his application but knew enough about medium to severe wounds that he was confident that he could do well.

First impression usually given: A fair looking guy who is over the top happy, and seems a little 'shallow'.

If they don't have one, why?: He just doesn't believe in stuff like that. If it wasn't for him and other doctors/care takers people would die before their time. It's all a matter of genetics and evolution, no 'god' is involved. At least, that's what he thinks.
Are they strong in it?: Yes, he really thinks it's bs. But at the same time he doesn't mind other people practicing it, as long as the keep it to themselves.

Emotional trauma: He has some nightmares concerning some of the assissinations he did when he was younger. He isn't troubled by them as much as they used to but it still shakes him up a bit. How do they respond when the trauma issue is talked about/touched on?: He doesn't really ever talk about it. But he'll probably remain quiet and or walk away. Good chance that he'll try and change the subject or crack a joke or something. He doesn't like talking about it.

What caused them to do drugs?: The painful memories and the loneliness in his heart. He just wanted to fade away from the world, quietly and painless.

Current dream in life: To be of use to the world and by that, the next generation. He wants to truly help people, instead of 'helping' them.
Why is this their dream?: Because he has this feeling that he has to repent for his crimes, and at the same time that he has a chance to, kind of, make things right.
Where they're from: He's from a small forest village on Nova, but moved around during the years quite a bit.

Backstory

As the first few years of Ryohei's life are quite boring, I'm just going to breeze through them. He was born into a family consisting of his father and mother and an older sister. From the moment he was always smiling and that resulted in his current name; Ryohei. He has always spent a lot of time with his sister, slowly growing up to be the protective 'older' brother. Whenever his sister got home from school with a male friend he would be all uppity about it. He would nag until his sister finally put on paper that there was nothing going on between the two of them. Anyhow, life went on and he turned out to be a perfectly normal student in his young teen years. He was stubborn, playful and open to the world (traits he still has today, all be it a bit different than before) and always had a lot of friends.

His family, poor and all, was always in dire need of money. His father was the only one capable of working as Ryo's mom was crippled from birth. Ryo, the protective brother and son that he was, started to look at ways that he could possibly rake in money for his family. It didn't take long for him to discover the underground ways, and eventually joined a mercenary organisation at 16. He sucked at first, got smacked around a lot and nearly got killed multiple times, but hey, he slowly progressed. His family was obviously surprised by the sudden increase of money and questioned him about it. Ryo was somehow ashamed of his new found way to make money and lied, telling them that he got it from working part time at some bar. His father and mother believed their son who had never lied before and thus it was that Ryo continued his dangerous work. Ryo protected his father and mother until he was 20 by which his mother passed away and his father had remarried. His sister was already married and had a family of her own, and so Ryo found himself lonely all of the sudden. He didn't have a lot of friends, as you don't get those in the mercenary field, and with that he poured himself into his work. How many kills Ryo has on his hands, he doesn't know, but there came a point where he just couldn't wash the blood of his hands anymore. He quit his 'job' and left Shadra all together. He went to Nova and lived there for a few years before he applicated at Star Academy, a school he wasn't all that acquainted with. Ryohei has always been better at white magic than he has been at dark magic. Healing spells and tricks came quick to him, unlike spells that were meant to hurt someone. Ryo didn't actually study a lot to become what he is now. He already had a lot of experience and somehow that was enough for his current job. In those few years that he spent on Nova before applicating at Starshine, he took a minor first aid course and brushed up on his healing skills but that was pretty much it. So, Ryo didn't really have any proper documents to fill in the gaps of his education but was confident he could do well as he has kept himself alive for all those years after all.

What kind of romantic are they?: He's a flirt and pretends that he falls for every beautiful woman he sees, which is not true. He's actually only truly charmed by strong independent women and strong men who can lead.

So Yes, you could say that he has slept around, but no... he's not a male whore or anything of the sort. For Ryo love and skinship are two very different things...
